2 Red Bean Pastries [backdated to after Pearl is mallynapped 4/18]

[Hhheello Luceti! Yeah! Hi! There's um, you see, there's a very concerned looking boy on the network with his Munchlax working hard on something in the background. Diamond's trying not to appear too panicked, seeing as it could just be a case of him going to the Battledome and stuff, but... After a moment, Lax holds up what he'd been working on and it appears to be an odd drawing of someone. It's not too bad considering a Pokémon drew it. Diamond adds "LOST" at the top and shows it to the camera.]

Thanks, Lax. Um... [Let's see how to put it.] My best friend Pearl never came home with me and the Little Miss from school and to our Brigade meeting and all, so if someone could find him we'd give you a lot of tokens and a basket of homecooked food. He's always on time.

[Yeah. Pearl's team is just kind of hanging around, having searched the village shortly before with their speed, and Diamond bows slightly with his hands clasped in front of him. It's a formal request so they've got to be official and all!]

Thank you.

[otherwise Diamond's pretty much hanging outside of House 11 on his Torterra, thinking about things and afterwards getting a talk from a returned Silver. waaah Pearl he's sorry he let their school project get eaten by Lax please come home soon]

I see. [That's nice to see just how much Pearl's Pokemon care about him. After a moment he offers a smile.] Do you desire any further company? We're not particularly busy at the moment, so I wouldn't mind speaking with you a little longer about whatever you'd like!

[Maybe they could talk about pokemon or recipes or something else as a distraction of sorts if it makes Dia feel any better?]

Oh! Well, to be a Connoisseur in general does require an extensive knowledge on the subject--as being a Pokemon Connoisseur in particular is considered more of a profession rather than just a hobby, though, it's very important to do your best! There's more to it than just knowing a lot about Pokemon; there are some tastes you have to experience yourself! It's not just something you learn from a manual, you have to put your heart and soul into it too! [sparkle sparkle]

In Unova, if you wish to become a Pokemon Connoisseur, you take a test. If you pass, you'll become a certified "C-class" Pokemon Connoisseur, and the harder you work at it, the more you can rise through the ranks. "S-class" is considered the highest rank and the hardest to obtain, with "A-class" being the second-highest and "B-class" being the next rank you obtain after C-class...also, when you first start out, C and B-class are usually only allowed to initially be hired as assistants to someone that is of the A-class or higher, where as A-class and S-class are allowed to work independently and can even open their own shops to work from.

[TL;DR Basically becoming a Pokemon Connoisseur is sort of like earning a degree in college or joining a guild. You start out at the lowest rank and then study and work your way up to the top. And it's a job people actually get hired for, though there are those who choose to do it for free like Cilan here.]

[Yeah Cilan really should have expected that. But if he's noticed, he doesn't say anything about it.]

It can be, but I think it's worth it. If I can use my knowledge and skills to taste the compatibility between Pokemon and their trainers, and help them along down a path that can make their bonds with one another grow even stronger than before, then I will do so gladly~!

[He beams even more brightly at that.]

I'm an A-class Pokemon Connoisseur. I don't have my own shop, per-say, but I do diagnose the tastes of many Pokemon and their trainers that I've met at our gym and during my travels. I've even been asked to help new trainers decide on which Pokemon is the most compatible for them to begin their journeys with, determining which ones will have the most successful marriages~! [But the sparkles are great Dia!]

I've offered critique to everyone I can, including some of the Luceti trainers--ones who were not Pokemon trainers back in their own worlds but acquired Pokemon during their stay here. However, I'm also the type that likes to taste things through experience, but having Pokemon battles here in Luceti is less common here than in our world. Still, I have had the chance to battle a couple of trainers during my stay...I believe out of the remaining trainers here, Masaomi and Miss Platina are some of the ones still here in Luceti that I've battled with before.

It was a very close battle of exciting tastes working off one another...but yes, I can say that even with the match ending in a draw, she passed splendidly!

[Not that you could ever really "fail", even if you lose. What's important is how you work together with your Pokemon!]
cilantro: (you're just not as fabulous as me)

I agree--her bonds with her Pokemon are in good taste! [That's okay if you're biased, Cilan thinks Platina is cool too.]

Our battle was a double battle--her suggestion, and I must say that it was a good one. It's been quite a while since I last took part in one, so it was a great chance to gain more experience and practice with our Pokemon's teamwork with one another. [Eventually after chipping away at the health of each other's Pokemon it ended with his remaining Crustle and her remaining Empoleon blasting each other into the walls with a simultaneous knock-out. ^^;;]

I see... [He knew about Platina challenging gyms, but he had no idea that she had defeated members of the Battle Frontier as well. In a way, he's lucky that he was even able to end the match in a draw, let alone the slim chance of winning.] Yes, she certainly was a challenging trainer to face. It's quite remarkable for a young lady such as herself to have accomplished so much.

Yes, I'm sure he could be challenging too. I look forward to the day I can battle with Pearl too!

...And of course, maybe someday you as well if you ever desire to do so. [Because he is curious about Dia and his Pokemon too.] To be honest, I don't mind what "level" any trainer is at, whether they are very experienced or even someone just starting out on their respective journeys--as long as the battle is fun and rich in flavor, then I'm sure it can still be an enjoyable one!

[Besides, he's one of the Gym Leaders of one of the very first gyms most people go to, so many of his previous opponents were beginners.]

I see... [Ahaha] Well, you're always more than welcome to watch and see for yourself the next time I taste someone's Pokemon in a battle.

[Although even in battles it's...a lot of talking too.]

Oh! Well, Unova certainly does have quite a variety of foods with different flavors, some unique to us, some to other parts of the world! Even if some things are similar on the surface, it's a matter of what ingredients you can use to give it a satisfying taste. [Like with berries grown in certain places and all. He would seriously continue to ramble at length about every little thing you could eat in Unova, but he does manage to eventually cut to the chase--]

But of the best that's exclusively in Unova, hm...oh, our region is the home of Casteliacones--a type of ice-cream that originates and is sold from Castelia City. It has a cold but wonderfully sweet taste, and it's presentation is as pleasing as fresh fallen snow~! [...CILAN REALLY LIKES THEM OKAY.]
